Can adults really be diagnosed with ADHD if they weren't diagnosed as a child?

Yes. To meet DSM-5 criteria for ADHD, symptoms must have been present before age 12, but they don't have to have been diagnosed. Many adults describe recognizing the symptoms in childhood only in hindsight.

How long does an evaluation take?

Most evaluations take one to two appointments plus a feedback session — typically completed within two to three weeks. A written report follows.

Do you prescribe medication?

We are an evaluation and counseling practice. If medication is appropriate, we refer to a medical prescriber. Your evaluation report can be shared with them so they don't have to start from scratch.

Is it done via telehealth?

Yes. Adult ADHD evaluations are well-suited to secure telehealth in most cases, and we provide it for clients in North Carolina and South Carolina.

How much does it cost?

Fees vary depending on the depth of the evaluation. Ask for our current fee schedule during your intake call. We provide superbills you can submit to insurance for possible reimbursement.

Will my employer or school find out?

No. Your evaluation is confidential. You choose whether — and what — to share with an employer, school, or medical provider.

What if I already had an evaluation and want a second opinion?

Bring the prior report. We can review it, discuss what feels unresolved, and design an evaluation that fills the gaps rather than repeating what has already been done.

What if ADHD is not the right diagnosis?

A good evaluation is designed to test the hypothesis — not confirm it. If ADHD is not the best fit for what you're experiencing, the report will say so and point toward what might be. That is a useful result.
