Six steps, defined by 49 CFR Part 40. Here's what each one actually looks like — in plain language.
After a positive DOT drug test, refusal, or alcohol violation, FMCSA requires an evaluation by a Qualified SAP before returning to safety-sensitive work.
A secure telehealth clinical evaluation to understand your history and recommend an appropriate course of education or treatment.
You complete the recommended plan. We coordinate with providers and track your progress so nothing falls through the cracks.
Once you've completed the plan, we conduct a follow-up evaluation to verify compliance and determine readiness for return-to-duty testing.
With a compliant follow-up report, your employer schedules an observed return-to-duty test. Your Clearinghouse record is updated accordingly.
